Nigeria’s global music stars Wizkid, Asake, Burna Boy and Tems have received multiple nominations for the 2026 BET Awards, highlighting their continued global impact.
The nominations were announced on Tuesday ahead of the awards ceremony scheduled for June 28, 2026, in Los Angeles, United States.
Wizkid and Asake secured a joint nomination in the Best Group category, driven by their collaborative project and recent chart successes.
Tems emerged as one of the most nominated African artistes, earning three nominations: Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her Award for her song “First,” and a Viewers’ Choice nomination for “Raindance,” her collaboration with Dave.
Burna Boy was nominated in the Best Collaboration category for “WGFT,” his feature on Gunna’s track.
Nigerian artists have maintained a strong presence at the BET Awards over the years, with Wizkid and Burna Boy among the most decorated African winners. Past honourees also include Davido, Tems, 2Baba, D’banj, Ice Prince, and Ayra Starr, who won Best International Act in 2025.
Beyond music, several Nigerian and African talents also earned nominations in acting categories, including Ayo Edebiri, Cynthia Erivo, and Damson Idris.
The 2026 BET Awards will feature major categories such as Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Actor, Best Actress, Sports awards, and multiple music and entertainment honours, showcasing global talent across industries.
