Woro killings: Kwara won’t bow to terror — AbdulRazaq

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, has vowed that the state will not succumb to fear or intimidation following the recent terrorist attack in Woro, pledging justice for the victims and stronger security measures to prevent a recurrence.

Speaking during the inauguration of a seven-member committee to support survivors of the attack, the governor described the incident as tragic and devastating.

“Today, my heart remains heavy as we gather in the shadow of the horrible terrorist attack that struck Woro on February 3, where at least 75 precious lives or more were cruelly taken,” he said.

He added that families and homes were shattered by what he called “mindless terrorists” attempting to impose their warped ideology on the people.

“We will leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice for our people and strengthening security across our state. We are already coordinating with federal authorities and security agencies to ensure this evil never happens again,” AbdulRazaq said.

“Kwara stands with you. Together, we will heal, rebuild, and emerge stronger. We shall not bow to fear or intimidation of any deranged ideology.”

According to the governor, the committee has been mandated to engage directly with affected families, community leaders and residents to assess their most urgent needs, including rehabilitation, medical care, livelihood support, infrastructure reconstruction and psychosocial assistance.

He said the panel would serve as a bridge between the government and the community to ensure that interventions are transparent, effective and tailored to local needs.

Chairman of the committee and Kiwozi of Kugiji, Ahmed Ibn-Muhammad, assured the governor that members would work diligently to reach affected persons and address their concerns.
