Yamal makes history as first teenager to win Euros, World Cup

Spain’s teenage sensation, Lamine Yamal, has etched his name into football history after becoming the first teenager to win both the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup.

The 19-year-old achieved the remarkable feat after helping Spain defeat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday.

Yamal, who played a key role throughout Spain’s victorious campaign, added the World Cup trophy to the European Championship title he won with La Roja in 2024, completing one of the most extraordinary starts to an international career.

The Barcelona winger was one of Spain’s standout performers at the tournament, dazzling fans with his pace, creativity and maturity despite his young age.

His performances were instrumental in Spain’s unbeaten run to a second World Cup title, reinforcing his status as one of football’s brightest young stars.

By claiming both major international honours before turning 20, Yamal has set a new benchmark in world football, becoming the first teenager to achieve the historic double.
