The 2027 Ogun State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Solomon Adeola, has directed the immediate reconstruction of the Oko-ati-Ada Road leading to Shimawa in Sagamu Local Government Area.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, also pledged to donate transformers to the local government to improve electricity supply.
The senator announced the interventions on Wednesday during the Sagamu Local Government Area Stakeholders’ Meeting, following complaints by residents over the deplorable condition of the road.
The appeal was led by the council chairman, Jubril Odulate, who presented Adeola with a list of priority projects identified by residents.
Odulate lamented the longstanding challenges posed by the road, urging the senator to help address the situation.
He expressed confidence in Adeola’s capacity to deliver development to the people of Sagamu, citing his previous interventions in farmers’ empowerment, support for market women, road construction and borehole provision.
2027: Yayi pledges creative economy, jobs for Ogun youths
“What you have been doing is just too good. A senator from the West district touching 20 local governments. We have seen numerous empowerment for farmers, market women, road construction, boreholes among others. You are a promise keeper and we know that you will deliver dividends for the people as governor of Ogun State,” Odulate said.
Responding, Adeola said construction work on the road would commence immediately, describing Sagamu as a strategic border town whose economic importance to Ogun State could not be overlooked.
“I have directed that the Oko-ati-Ada Road be constructed. Work will commence on the road immediately. Sagamu is a border town which is strategic to the economic development of Ogun State and cannot be neglected,” he said.
The APC governorship candidate also promised to categorise the project requests submitted by the council into three phases: immediate interventions, projects to be funded through a supplementary budget and those to be executed under the full-year budget.
Adeola further pledged to hold annual stakeholders’ meetings to account for his commitments and provide updates on projects delivered.
“I assure you that if you vote me as your governor, I will work for the people of Sagamu. The list of project demands you have given to me will be divided into three: those I will do now, those I will do with supplementary budget and those that will be done with the full year budget.
“I pledge to you a yearly meeting like this where I will give stewardship of my work. I will be accountable to my promises,” he said.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele; the Director-General of the Ogun State APC Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, Senator Olalekan Mustapha; and traditional chiefs from Sagamu communities.
