Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has pledged to run an inclusive administration if elected governor of Ogun State, assuring that every part of the state would benefit from his government regardless of religion or political affiliation.
The senator gave the assurance on Friday during a consultation meeting with the Egba League of Imams and Alfas at the Egba Central Mosque in Kobiti, Abeokuta, as part of his engagements with stakeholders ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Addressing the Islamic leaders, Adeola said his aspiration was driven by a desire to serve all Ogun residents and deliver the dividends of democracy to both urban and rural communities.
“My visit today is not to campaign but to listen and reassure our esteemed religious leaders that our governance model will be inclusive and fair to all. Ogun State belongs to all of us. Whether you are in the cities or at the grassroots, my focus is to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every home,” he said.
During the meeting, the senator also announced a personal donation of N150 million towards the renovation and expansion of the Egba Central Mosque. He further pledged to rehabilitate the road leading to the mosque, saying work would commence as soon as possible.
Presenting Adeola and his deputy governorship candidate, Mrs Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, to the clerics, Ogun State APC Chairman, Alhaji Yemi Sanusi, appealed for their prayers and support ahead of the 2027 election.
He said the support of the Muslim community had contributed to the party’s previous electoral victories and expressed confidence that the same backing would help secure another win.
In his remarks, the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheikh Muhammed Sa’ad Alade Bamgbola, commended Adeola for consulting traditional and religious leaders, describing the engagement as a demonstration of respect for the people.
He prayed for the senator’s success and urged him to fulfil his promises if elected, while ensuring that development is spread fairly across all parts of Ogun State.
The meeting was attended by several political leaders, including Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide; former Deputy Governor Salmot Badru; Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Iziaq Salako; Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu; Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Olaolu Olabimtan; and Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Lanre Oyegbola.
