The Zamfara State Government has begun training 250 teachers, evaluators and education administrators in artificial intelligence and modern teaching methods as part of efforts to improve learning outcomes across the state.
The training is being conducted under the 18-day Global Standard Teacher Transformation Programme (GSTTP) at the Zamfara College of Arts and Science (ZACAS), Gusau.
The programme entered its third day on Wednesday, with participants receiving training in Educational Technology and Artificial Intelligence (EdTech/AI), Active Teaching and Learning (ATLs), Curriculum Vitae development, and Educational Change and Growth (ECG).
Participants were divided into groups to facilitate practical engagement with the various modules and ensure effective participation throughout the sessions.
The state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said the programme was designed to equip education personnel with modern skills, innovative teaching techniques and global best practices.
The ministry said integrating technology and artificial intelligence into teacher training would enable educators to adapt to emerging developments and enhance classroom instruction.
It added that strengthening the capacity of teachers, evaluators and education managers was essential to improving school leadership and learning outcomes.
According to the ministry, the initiative forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to transform the education sector and build a competent, innovative and future-ready workforce.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to human capital development, stressing that sustainable improvement in education begins with strengthening the capacity of those responsible for delivering it.
At the end of the 18-day programme, participants are expected to have gained practical knowledge of contemporary teaching methodologies and other approaches aimed at improving education delivery across Zamfara State.
