Zenith Bank Plc has introduced Google Pay for its customers, enabling eligible cardholders to make contactless payments in stores, online, and within mobile applications through Google Wallet.
Zenith Bank announced the development in a statement on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, saying the new payment option is designed to provide customers with faster, more convenient and secure digital transactions.
With the service, eligible Zenith Bank customers can add their debit or credit cards to Google Wallet and use compatible devices to tap and pay at participating contactless payment terminals or complete online and in-app purchases without repeatedly entering their card details.
According to the bank, Google Pay uses payment tokenisation technology, which replaces a customer’s actual card number with a unique digital token to enhance the security of transactions and reduce the exposure of sensitive payment information.
Zenith Bank said the integration offers customers enhanced security, quicker checkout, greater convenience across supported payment channels and increased confidence when making digital payments.
Zenith Bank noted that the rollout reflects its commitment to expanding secure digital banking services as more Nigerians rely on smartphones for shopping, bill payments and other financial transactions.
The bank also highlighted its track record in banking innovation, recalling that it launched what it described as Nigeria’s first ATM gallery in 2007.

“At a time when conventional banking often meant lengthy queues, the initiative provided an alternative built around convenience and accessibility,” it said.
The Group Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank Plc, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, underscored the importance of the technology, describing it as “digitally forward.”
Umeoji added that the forthcoming Zenith Bank Tech Fair 2026, themed ‘Future Forward 6.0’ and scheduled for November 5, 2026, would take the conversation further.
The bank further stated that the introduction of Google Pay represents another step in its efforts to leverage technology to improve customer experience and expand digital payment options.
To use the service, eligible cardholders are required to add their supported Zenith Bank cards to Google Wallet on compatible devices and complete the verification process.
Once activated, customers can use Google Pay at participating contactless payment terminals as well as supported online and in-app checkout platforms, subject to card eligibility, device compatibility, and merchant acceptance.
