Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has denied reports suggesting that he has endorsed or anointed individuals for executive positions ahead of the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) congresses in the state.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, the governor described the claims as false and deliberately circulated to sow discord within the party.

Zulum clarified that he has not endorsed any candidate for any APC position in Gwoza Local Government Area or in any of the state’s 27 local government areas.

“I wish to categorically state that I have not anointed anyone for the position of Chairman or Secretary of the APC in Gwoza local government, nor have I anointed any individual for any position in the APC congresses across the 27 local government areas of the state,” the governor said.

He urged party members and supporters to ignore the rumours, describing them as a calculated attempt to create disaffection and distract the party from its goals.

The governor called on APC stakeholders to remain focused and continue with constructive consultations aimed at producing credible and widely acceptable candidates for all party positions ahead of the congresses.
