Suspected kidnappers have released 10 farmers who were abducted at a farm in Ayede-Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The farmers were released after six days in the captivity of their abductors

A farmer identified as Femi Alawiye, and nine of his workers, were kidnapped by armed men on his farm on Saturday evening, January 29.

They were lured to the farm by the kidnappers under the pretence that the farm was on fire.

According to a family member of the farmer, a few hours after the abduction, the kidnappers contacted the family, demanding a sum of N100 million ransom which they later reduced to N10 million after much negotiation.

It is still not clear if the family of the victims paid ransom to secure their release.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed their release.

She, however, did not give details of the release.
