A 17-year-old apprentice, Ojibe Chibueze, has committed suicide after being accused of stealing money from his boss in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that one Cynthia, a sister to the 17-year-old apprentice, reported the case to Elemoro Police Division at about 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
Hundeyin said the woman reported that her brother came back from work at about 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12.
He quoted Cynthia as saying that her brother took some money and went out, adding that his master later called to inform her of the N100,000 allegedly stolen by Chibueze in his shop.

The woman said her brother did not return home till she received a phone call from her neighbour, who informed her of seeing the brother’s dead body lying at Abijo Bus Stop, Ajah in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos.
She said she rushed to the scene and met her brother’s lifeless body with a sniper beside him, which she presumed that he drank to death.
Hundeyin added: “On the receipt of the report, detectives immediately moved to the scene and found the dead body with foam gushing out of his mouth and nostrils.
“The can of sniper has been recovered as an exhibit. The corpse has been removed and deposited at Epe General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.”
The police spokesman noted that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
