The Labour Party (LP) failed to produce candidates for 25 senatorial seats and 111 federal constituencies across the country ahead of the 2023 general election, the list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed.
According to INEC’s list, the Labour Party has no senatorial candidates in Lagos, Ekiti, Borno, Katsina, and Kebbi states.
The LP only has two senatorial candidates each in Yobe, Ondo, Delta, and Bayelsa states, while it has one candidate each in Kogi and Bauchi states.
It is also the same for the party on the list of candidates for the 360 federal constituencies as it has none for any of the 24 available federal constituencies seats in Lagos, 15 in Katsina, 10 in Borno, 8 in Kebbi, 6 in Yobe, 6 in Ekiti, and 10 out of the 24 seats in Kano State.

It would be recalled INEC, last week, published the list of presidential and National Assembly candidates of the 18 registered political parties.
From the list, it was gathered that out of 109 senatorial districts across the country, Labour Party has candidates for only 84 of the senatorial seats.
However, aside Yobe North senatorial seat that INEC has not accepted a candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), all the remaining 468 seats are filled with candidates.
The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also has candidates for all the positions as contained in the INEC lists.
