2027: ADC offers Gawuna governorship ticket, campaign support

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reportedly offered former Kano State governorship candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, its 2027 governorship ticket alongside financial and political incentives as part of efforts to strengthen its position in the state.

Sources familiar with the ongoing talks said party leaders have intensified consultations with Gawuna’s political associates, urging the former deputy governor to contest the next governorship election on the ADC platform.

According to the sources, the party has promised campaign funding and political opportunities for some of Gawuna’s loyalists, including nominations for State House of Assembly and House of Representatives seats.

The move is said to be part of a broader strategy by the ADC to attract influential political figures capable of boosting its chances in key states ahead of the 2027 elections.

Former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, and former ambassador, Faruk Yabo, are reportedly leading efforts to persuade Gawuna to join the party.

Although the former APC governorship candidate has repeatedly affirmed his loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya movement, sources said the ADC’s proposal has generated fresh discussions within his political camp.

Insiders also disclosed that the party is yet to declare a winner in its Kano governorship primary involving Ibrahim Khalil and Ibrahim Little, a delay reportedly linked to ongoing negotiations with Gawuna.

Political observers believe Gawuna remains one of Kano’s most influential opposition figures and could significantly boost the ADC’s prospects if he accepts the offer.

Neither Gawuna nor ADC officials had publicly responded to the reports as of the time of filing this report.
