2027: Obi-Kwankwaso movement unveils 59-member campaign council

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as it steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The council comprises zonal and state coordinators as well as directors overseeing mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs, administration and other areas.

The movement’s Director-General, John Ughulu, will serve as Director-General of the campaign, while its National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, is also part of the campaign leadership.

The structure includes representatives from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators designated for the 36 states.

In a message to the newly appointed members, Sani described their selection as a responsibility to take the movement’s message to voters across the country.

“Your selection is not merely an appointment; it is a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria,” she said.

She urged members to work together to communicate the vision and policies of the movement’s principals, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Sani said the movement was focused on a broader national agenda rather than individual political ambitions, urging members to approach their assignments with discipline, loyalty and commitment.

She added that the immediate task was to ensure that the message of the movement reached Nigerians across states, local government areas, wards and communities.

Among those appointed as zonal coordinators are Suleiman Abubakar for the North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West, Amadu Gwambe for the North-East, Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.

Other appointees include Sabo Gashua, Director of Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Director of Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Director of Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Director of Mobilisation; and Yusuf Mani, Director of Special Duties.

Peace Daful was named Director of Procurement, Prof Charles Nwekeaku, Director of South-East Town Hall; and Sunmisola Adebayo, Director of Information Technology.

Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri will oversee Strategy and Planning, while Richard Enemona, a retired CSP, will head Security and Intelligence. Aisha Abdulrahaman was named Director of Administration.

The movement also appointed state coordinators for the 36 states and the FCT.

The unveiling comes after the group reaffirmed that it would retain its independent structure ahead of the 2027 elections rather than merge with another political organisation.

The movement also recently condemned the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State and called for an impartial investigation into the incident.
