2027: Wike launches radio station to boost Tinubu’s re-election campaign

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commissioned a new radio station in Rivers State aimed at supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The station, Majority FM 89.5, is located at the office of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Port Harcourt and is equipped with modern broadcast studios and technical facilities.

Speaking at the inauguration, Wike said the project demonstrates the group’s loyalty and commitment to the President, stressing that members financed the initiative with their personal resources rather than relying on government funds.

“It is not by newspaper. Our commitment is shown that indeed we are working for Mr President Ahmed Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilise for Mr President. We have what it takes to be on our own,” he said.

According to him, the group comprises influential political figures, including senators, members of the National Assembly and state assemblies, local government chairmen, and party leaders from both the APC and PDP.

Wike commended the members for contributing financially to establish the station, saying their actions reflect genuine support.

“If you say you are supporting somebody, you don’t need the person to bring resources. You have to make a commitment, and this is what our leaders have done,” he added.

The minister also addressed a recent disagreement with the Rivers State Government over the use of the Yakubu Gowon Stadium for political rallies. He alleged that his group was denied access to the facility and warned that such restrictions would not be tolerated in the future.

“We applied to the state government to use the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, and they refused. Next time, if we apply and they refuse again, we will break it, and nothing will happen,” Wike said.
