A 25-year-old man, Mohammed Musa, has been stabbed to death during a late-night fight in Bauchi metropolis, with police arresting a suspect in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred around 11pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi.
The Bauchi State Police Command said the victim was involved in an altercation with Abubakar Abdullahi, popularly known as “Dan Iya”, before the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed him.
Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said in a statement on Sunday that officers from the ‘A’ Division Township responded to the incident and arrested Abdullahi.
Musa was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a doctor pronounced him dead.
Police said the alleged weapon used in the attack was recovered and kept as an exhibit, while the victim’s remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and urged residents to avoid violence and report suspicious activities to the police.
