The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the 28-year-old candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akarachi Amadi, as the winner of Saturday’s supplementary election for the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in Imo State.

According to the results announced by the Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Boniface Okoro, the 28-year-old candidate polled 21,372 votes to defeat the incumbent House of Representatives member and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who scored 7,202 votes.

Okoro said Uche Ogbuagu of the Labour Party (LP) came second with 18,296 votes, Usmond Ukanacho of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) garnered 6,681 votes, Chinonso Uba of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) scored 4,100 votes, while Godstime Chukwubuikem of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) got 246 votes.
