No fewer than three persons were confirmed dead while eight others were injured in an accident involving a Toyota Corolla car and a Nissan Micra taxi at Ile Ise Paanu, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The spokesman of Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident on Friday.
Akinbiyi said the accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Friday due to excessive speed and loss of control on the part of the driver of the Toyota Corolla.
He added that the driver of the Corolla marked LND 618 FQ lost control and rammed into the Nissan Micra taxi with registration number AKM 590 YQ.

“According to an eyewitness, the driver of the Corolla car, due to excessive speed, lost control while in motion and rammed into the Micra taxi from the back while passengers in the taxi were alighting from it,” he said.
Akinbiyi disclosed that 11 people were involved in the accident comprising four males and seven females, adding that eight people were injured while three died.
The TRACE spokesman said both the injured and the deceased were taken to General Hospital, Ijaiye, and Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta.
He, however, commiserated with the family of the deceased, urging motorists to avoid speeding while driving.
