The African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that he and members of his party were attacked by suspected political thugs in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, accusing the Department of State Services (DSS) of aiding the assailants.
Sowore made the allegations in a series of posts on his verified X account on Friday, October 30, 2026.
He said the attackers were armed and targeted him and his supporters after allegedly receiving information about their location.
Sowore wrote: “We have been brutally attacked and injured by well armed government-sponsored thugs in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
“The DSS provided these attackers with our exact location, enabling them to carry out this vicious assault. We won’t back down! We have a country to liberate!”
In another post, Sowore alleged that the attackers came from the Ekiti State Government House, adding that they received operational support from the DSS.
The AAC candidate further alleged that DSS operatives had monitored and harassed him and his team since their arrival in Ekiti State, saying they also intimidated the manager of a restaurant where they had eaten.
Sowore stated: “This is the level of infamy to which Nigeria has been subjected! Those who brutally attacked us in Ado-Ekiti today came from the Government House. They are well known, and they were provided with tracking and operational support by the DSS.
“Since our arrival yesterday, DSS operatives have been trailing and harassing us. They even threatened the manager of the first place where we ate, warning him never to allow us to use his premises again.
“Today, shortly after I completed an interview at MIDAS FM 90.5 in Ado-Ekiti, the thugs descended on us in a violent attack, allegedly with the assistance of the DSS.”

Sowore also criticised the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye, accusing him of downplaying the incident after visiting the scene.
Sowore said the police commissioner witnessed the injuries sustained by him and his associates but later described the incident as a mere altercation.
He tweeted: “The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, personally visited the scene of the brutal attack against us in Ado-Ekiti today. He saw firsthand the extensive injuries we sustained, yet he has the audacity to issue a despicable statement describing a coordinated, violent attack as a mere ‘altercation.’
“THERE WAS NO ALTERCATION! WE WERE ATTACKED!
“The Commissioner saw the injuries, witnessed the aftermath of the violence, and was fully aware of the seriousness of what happened. Yet his Command has chosen to trivialize the attack, even describing the injuries as ‘minor.’
“No wonder allegations have emerged that the Commissioner of Police himself was involved. This is despicable!
“Video shows the CP leaving the emergency room after observing the extensive injuries.”
The Ekiti State Government, the DSS, and the Nigeria Police Force had not responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
