3 killed, many injured in Ondo cult clash

No fewer than three people have been confirmed dead in a clash between two rival cult groups in Ondo Town, Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the cult clash on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Ayanlade disclosed that the clash started on Monday evening and continued on Tuesday.

The police spokesman said many people were also injured.

He said: “There was a cult clash on Monday and yesterday. Meanwhile, this morning, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police is having an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

“Three people have been confirmed dead, which we believe they were related and involved in the cult clash, while some other individuals were injured.

“Police operatives have been deployed and we encourage members of the public to go about their lawful business without fear and panic.”
