Man caught on camera luring girl with ₦1,000 for sex

A video circulating on social media has ignited widespread outrage after a man was caught on camera allegedly trying to entice a young girl selling avocados on the street into a sexual encounter in exchange for ₦1,000.

The footage, shared on Instagram by content creator LordZeus on Monday, shows him directly confronting the suspect about his actions.

When challenged, the man denied any wrongdoing and falsely claimed to be the child’s father — a claim the girl quickly refuted. She recounted that the man had approached her and asked her to accompany him to a private location to “touch body,” offering her ₦1,000 as an incentive.

She further revealed that when she declined, he physically produced the cash in a bid to change her mind.

A number of onlookers who gathered at the scene attempted to defend the suspect, suggesting he suffered from a mental illness and indicating that the young girl was not his first target.

“Leave him, he’s not well,” one bystander was heard saying in the video.

LordZeus, however, rejected that reasoning outright, arguing that a mental health condition cannot and should not be used to justify predatory behaviour toward children.

He also took the opportunity to issue a heartfelt warning to parents, urging them to stop sending young girls out to hawk alone on the streets regardless of financial hardship.

In his words: “Parents please, no matter how hard life gets, do not allow your girl child — especially underage — to hawk on the streets alone.

“Even if they must hawk, hawk alongside them. They are constantly at risk of sexual harassment, and many of them will never speak up.”*

He stressed that the incident served as a chilling reminder of the dangers girl children face daily, adding that protecting their safety and dignity must take absolute priority over any economic necessity.
