Four men have been arraigned before the Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Iyaganku area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, for allegedly stealing food items including rice, spaghetti, and vegetable oil.
The four accused persons are David Adams, 29; 29-year-old Yakubu Matthew; Paul Prosper, 26; and 26-year-old ThankGod Joseph.
The defendants, who were arraigned before the court on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, were charged with conspiracy, shopbreaking, and stealing, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences in the Ologuneru area of Ibadan on October 11.
Balogun said the men broke and entered the shop of one Opeyemi Sukurat and stole her items including bags of rice, spaghetti, semovita, and vegetable oil.
Balogun said the offences contravened Sections 516, 414 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two reliable sureties each in like sum.
Sanusi-Zubair, thereafter, adjourned the case until December 17, 2024, for hearing.
