Kano 2027: Gov Yusuf, 29 lawmakers, 44 LG chairmen dump NNPP

The governor is set to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor announced his decision in a letter to the Chairman of Diso-Chiranchi Ward, NNPP, Gwale Local Government Area, effective Friday, January 23, 2026.
This is contained in a statement issued by his Spokesperson Sanusi Bature, in Kano on Friday.
He expressed gratitude to the party for the platform and support extended to him since 2022 .
Yusuf cited persistent internal disputes and legal challenges as reasons for his resignation, stating that the internal disagreements had widened divisions and weakened cohesion within the party.
