Tinubu assures Fubara he won’t regret embracing peace, hails Wike

President Bola Tinubu has assured Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara that he would not regret embracing peace following the political crisis in the state, while praising Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his contributions to national development.

Tinubu gave the assurance on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he commended Fubara for respecting interventions aimed at resolving the political tension in the state.

The President described the governor’s decision to maintain peace as a demonstration of maturity and commitment to democracy.

“Fubara, Your Excellency, the host governor of today, I want to thank you specifically for your maturity, understanding, and respect for the wisdom of elders.

“When we intervened, you respected our position, you maintained peace, and you are a committed democrat.

“Fubara, you will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive,” Tinubu said.

The President also praised Wike, describing him as a development partner of his administration whose contributions were helping drive infrastructural growth across the country.

“Nyesom Wike is already a development partner of the Bola Tinubu administration.

“He is doing a wonderful job—committed, very, very hardworking.

“A man with vision who combines that with a mission. Help me thank him for his contribution to the infrastructural development of our country,” he told the crowd.

Tinubu also defended his administration’s economic reforms, claiming that the government had reversed the situation in which 27 of the 36 states were unable to pay civil servants’ salaries when he assumed office.

He said his administration had addressed the challenges and cleared outstanding liabilities.

The President further urged Nigerian youths to participate actively in the electoral process, stressing that their future depended on the outcome of the elections.

He called on eligible voters who had yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“To the youth of Nigeria, this election is about you. Your future depends on this election.

“It is left for you to use the weapon you have, and that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead and collect it. Please, I beg you, I take God beg you,” he said.

Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, education and welfare, assuring Nigerians that the government remained focused on sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
