A 53-year-old man has been confirmed dead after collapsing during a visit to a young woman in Minna, the capital of Niger State.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident via a statement issued on Friday, January 30, 2026.
Abiodun disclosed that the incident occurred at about 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27.
Abiodun stated that the woman was reported to have served the deceased some food, after which the 53-year-old man began to convulse and later collapsed.

The police spokesman said the deceased was immediately rushed to the General Hospital, Minna, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
He added that the woman had been arrested in connection with the incident, while the corpse of the deceased had been deposited for examination to ascertain the actual cause of death.
Abiodun further stated that the families of the 53-year-old man had been contacted, adding that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
