Fifty-eight inmates from correctional centres under the Kano State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service are participating in the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Musbahu K/Nasarawa, the inmates’ participation was made possible through the financial support of the Kano State Government, which covered the registration fees.
He described the gesture as a reflection of the government’s dedication to the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.
“This is a clear demonstration of the State Government’s commitment to the welfare, reformation, and educational advancement of inmates,” the statement read.
“The Command deeply appreciates the unwavering support of His
Excellency, the Governor. This act of goodwill will significantly boost the morale of the inmates, offering them a renewed opportunity for education and a better future.”
Mr. K/Nasarawa added that the command remains focused on creating a supportive environment for the rehabilitation of inmates, with the support of the Kano State Government playing a vital role in that mission.
