The Nigerian Army has commenced the 2025 Warrant Officers Promotional Training, with no fewer than 610 soldiers from various formations across the country participating in the exercise.
The two-week training, which began on Sunday, is being held at the Federal Road Safety Corps Academy, Udi, Enugu State, and includes a series of assessments such as medical examinations, physical drills, weapon handling, written and computer-based tests (for clerical officers), and oral interviews.
Declaring the training open, the Chief of Personnel Management (CPM), Army Headquarters, Maj.-Gen. Adewale Adekeye, cautioned participants against the use of hard drugs or performance-enhancing substances, stressing that most of the soldiers were above 50 years old and such stimulants could endanger their health.
Adekeye conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, to the officers for their years of dedicated service, discipline, and sacrifice to the nation.
“We congratulate you for attaining this stage in your career and commend your loyalty, efficiency, and commitment,” Adekeye said. “The Warrant Officers Promotional Board will be objective and fair in its evaluation. Your success will depend on your performance, discipline, and professionalism throughout the exercise.”
He warned against any form of cheating or misconduct, adding that only the most qualified and deserving candidates would be promoted based on merit.
Adekeye also lauded the Chief of Army Staff for his continued guidance, support, and provision of resources for the successful conduct of the training.
Earlier, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, urged participants to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to the process. He assured them that their welfare and safety were top priorities of the division.
“We thank God for your safe arrival and commend the promotion board for its professionalism,” Olatoye said. “We are confident that the board members will remain steadfast, impartial, and fair in their assessments.”
The ongoing training is designed for Master Warrant Officers aspiring to attain the rank of Nigerian Army Warrant Officer, marking a crucial step in their career progression within the military hierarchy.
