8 die in accident at Ondo varsity gate

A road accident at the front of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State has claimed eight lives.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday night, was confirmed by the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State,Dr Samuel Ibitoye.

Ibitoye, in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, disclosed that the accident involved a motorcycle and truck loaded with cement.

Ibitoye stated that five male adults, two female adults, and one male child were killed in the incident.

The sector commander said the accident occurred after the truck avoided a motorcycle and ran into a barricade at the university gate, hence, losing control which resulted in the crash.

“Eight people were killed on the spot while the bodies have been deposited at the morgue of a hospital in the town,” he said.

Ibitoye urged drivers and road users to always obey traffic rules and regulations of the road to avoid crashes.
