Cameroon’s President Paul Biya has been declared the winner of the country’s presidential election.
Biya, 92, secured 53.66% of the vote, according to official results announced by the Constitutional Council on Monday, October 27, 2025.
According to the election results announced by the president of the Constitutional Council, Clement Atangana, rival candidate and former government minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary came second with 35.2%.
Tchiroma had claimed victory against the incumbent two days after the October 12 election.

Biya, re-elected for an eighth term, has led the central African nation since 1982. With his re-election, he can now govern until 2032.
The world’s oldest president has held a tight grip on power ever since, doing away with the presidential term limit in 2008 and winning reelection by comfortable margins.
This year, his strongest challenge came from Tchiroma, who broke ranks with Biya earlier this year and mounted a campaign that drew large crowds and endorsements from a coalition of opposition parties and civic groups.
