Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has finally unveiled his choice of deputy governor.
He has picked a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Olaide Adelami.
His choice is from Owo, the hometown of his deceased principal, the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The announcement of Adelami’s choice came shortly after the governor sacked all the commissioners and special advisers on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, in a statement, stated that the name of the new deputy governor has been transmitted to the state House of Assembly for approval.
“His nomination will be announced by the House of Assembly later today,” the statement read.
Adelami retired as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly in April 2018. After his retirement, he contested for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in 2020 but stepped down for Akeredolu.
