Nigerian faith-based film Agbara Nla: The Return is set to open in select US cinemas on Friday after earning a reported $173,650 across the United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada.
The film’s distributor, The Nile Group, announced the US release in a post on Instagram, directing moviegoers to book tickets through AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas.
The North American expansion follows the film’s reported box-office performance in the UK and Canada, as it continues its international rollout.
In a separate post on Thursday, The Nile Group said the production had generated £86,691 in the UK and Ireland and CAD$82,203 in Canada, bringing its reported international earnings to $173,650.
The distributor described the film as the Nollywood production with the biggest opening weekend ever in the UK and the biggest Nollywood release in the country in 2026.
It also claimed that the film recorded the biggest UK pre-sales for a Nollywood production and the biggest opening for a faith-based Nollywood film in the country.
The company said the film was still showing in cinemas across the UK and Canada, while announcing an Irish release through Odeon Cinemas.
Agbara Nla: The Return revisits the story of the 1993 film Agbara Nla, created by Christian filmmaker Mike Bamiloye, who reprises his role as the herbalist Isawuru in the new production.
