A driver of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Sunday Bukola, has crushed a five-year-old boy to death at Palmgroove in the Onipanu area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the driver crushed the boy, identified simply as Malik, while attempting to cross the BRT lane alongside his two-year-old brother and mother at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
It was learnt that the boy died on the spot while his sibling and mother sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The victims were said to be receiving treatment at the hospital.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the BRT driver had been arrested.
Hundeyin added that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
“The corpse has been evacuated and deposited at the mortuary. The driver was later arrested and is in police custody, and an investigation is ongoing,” he said.
