No fewer than eight persons have been injured in a building collapse in Iga-Iduganran, Lagos Island in Lagos State.
The four storey building collapsed in Lagos on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
LASEMA, in a statement issued by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said an investigation at the scene revealed that the building collapsed while renovation was ongoing on the structure.

Oke-Osanyintolu noted that the building had been marked for evacuation because of its dilapidated state by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) but the occupants remained adamant.
The LASEMA boss said the injured persons comprising seven adult males and an adult female were rescued and transferred to the Iga-Iduganran Primary Health Centre by the agency’s paramedics for treatment.
“Search and rescue operation still ongoing,” he added.
Oke-Osanyintolu listed the agencies at the scene of the incident to include LASEMA Response Team, LRU paramedics, LASBCA, LNSC, LASPPPA, LASAMBUS, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the police.
