No fewer than three persons have been confirmed dead in the mosque collapse at Papa Ajao in the Mushin area of Lagos State.

Seven persons with various degrees of injuries were also rescued from the collapsed building.

The incident was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Oke-Osanyintolu noted: “Following an extensive exercise, final casualty report on the above incident is that there were three fatalities and seven casualties varying in severity.

“The affected buildings have been levelled to ground zero.”

The LASEMA boss listed emergency responders at the scene of the incident to include the agency’s response team led by the Permanent Secretary, LRU Fire unit and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

Others were the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), NEMA, police, LNSC, FRSC, and LASAMBUS.

Oke-Osanyintolu added that the operation has been concluded.
