The operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have uncovered five illegal crude oil dumps in the Jahi/Katampe axis of Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The NSCDC spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Babawale said seven suspects linked to the illegal crude oil production and distribution were arrested by the NSCDC officers.

Babawale stated that the NSCDC officers also recovered trucks loaded with stolen Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), otherwise known as diesel, from the suspects.

He said one white truck with three compartments fully loaded with 45,000 litres of diesel with an unverifiable waybill seen at the illegal dump, four Mercedes Benz short peddler trucks, and several other vehicles were impounded.
Pumping machines, different-sized hoses, Mikano generator, 23 surface metallic constructed tanks with some containing large quantities of suspected diesel, and a container shelter, among other exhibits, were also impounded.

The NSCDC spokesman noted that the arrests showcased the dedication of the NSCDC to relentlessly crack down on crude oil thieves across Nigeria.
Babawale added that the suspects would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to other criminals.
