The Republic of Ireland has deported 35 Nigerians, including five children, from the country.
The deportees left Ireland on Wednesday night aboard a chartered flight at Dublin Airport and arrived in Nigeria on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Those deported included 21 men, nine women, and five children.
Speaking on the deportation, Irish Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan said he was happy that all individuals had returned to Nigeria, despite an unscheduled landing prompted by a medical issue during the flight.

Although Irish authorities did not specify the reasons for the deportation, O’Callaghan stressed the importance of adhering to immigration laws.
“Ireland has a rules-based immigration system. It is important that those rules are robust and enforced,” Irish Mirror quoted the minister as saying.
Meanwhile, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) said it had not been notified about the deportation.
