A devastating fire broke out on Sallah day at the Dan Sulaika Plaza in Kano’s Farm Centre GSM Market, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
The incident, which occurred around noon while many traders were still away for Eid prayers, caught shop owners off guard.
Despite swift efforts by firefighters, security agencies, and volunteers, it took over two hours to contain the blaze.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The Farm Centre GSM Market is a major commercial hub in Kano, known for its sale of new and second-hand phones, computers, and repair services offered by local technicians and engineers.
Hassan Saminu, Treasurer of the Farm Centre Market Association, told reporters that the fire may have been sparked by an electrical fault or solar battery issue in one of the shops.
“By the time we arrived, the fire had already spread across most of the shops,” Saminu said.
Authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the fire, and an investigation is expected to follow.
