The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports claiming that it has published the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election.
In a statement on Friday, the Commission described such reports as “false and misleading,” emphasizing that no official timetable has been issued.
INEC said it strictly operates within the law, noting that Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022 requires the Commission to publish a Notice of Election not later than 360 days before a general election.
Any timetable released outside this framework is therefore unauthorised.
INEC assured Nigerians that the official timetable and schedule will be released in due course and through verified channels, in full compliance with the Constitution and the Electoral Act.
The Commission urged the public and media to disregard unverified reports and rely solely on information from its official platforms for accurate updates.
