Kaduna State Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, says health workers will receive priority attention in the state’s 2026 budget, as part of Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to making healthcare a fundamental right for residents.
Speaking on Sunday, the Commissioner said the administration is not only upgrading hospitals and primary healthcare centres, but is also focused on improving the welfare of the personnel who run the system.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, Ahmad pledged that outstanding promotion cases across all health agencies will be reviewed this year, noting that 15 per cent of the 2026 budget has been allocated to the health sector.
“The Ministry will evaluate all promotion cases across its parastatals. Those who merit promotion will be promoted,” she assured.
She recalled that Governor Uba Sani had previously earned praise from health workers after implementing the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS).
The Kaduna State council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives had, in a letter dated September 2, 2025, commended the governor for the gesture.
The Commissioner added that the Kaduna State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association, led by its chairman, Dr. Hassan Baba Salihu, also lauded the administration for prioritising the welfare of medical professionals.
