Nigeria’s Super Eagles booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a convincing 2-0 victory over Algeria in their quarter-final clash at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday.

In a match the West Africans largely controlled after a goalless first half, Victor Osimhen broke the deadlock early in the second period with a powerful header, capitalizing on a well-timed cross from Bruno Onyemaechi.

Soon after, Akor Adams doubled the lead, finishing a swift attacking move that further lifted the Super Eagles’ momentum and quelled Algerian hopes of a comeback.

Nigeria’s performance was marked by superior ball possession, sustained pressure, and improved sharpness in front of goal.

The Algerian side, who had earlier progressed after an extra-time win in the Round of 16, struggled to carve out meaningful chances against a disciplined Nigerian defense.

With the win, Nigeria advances to the AFCON semi-finals, where they will face either Morocco or their respective quarter-final opponent as the competition edges closer to its climax.
