A 30-year-old man, Suleman Mamuda, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 25-year-old wife, Umaima Maidawa, in Bayawa, Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Usman stated that the incident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on Monday.
Usman said the 30-year-old man allegedly used the wooden handle of a hoe to hit his wife, resulting in her death.

The police spokesman noted: “The suspect fled the area after the incident but was later traced and arrested following police investigation and credible information received from members of the community.
”The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Umar Mohammed-Hadejia, has directed that the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.”
He further urged members of the public to promptly report incidents and continue to support law enforcement efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security across Kebbi State.”
