Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have repelled a terrorist ambush in Zamfara State and rescued two abducted herders while recovering 520 rustled livestock during separate operations in Sokoto State.
The Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Sinivie said troops of Sector 2 came under a coordinated ambush on Wednesday while conducting a fighting patrol along the Anka–Guruzu Road in Zamfara State following intelligence reports of terrorist activities in the area.
Sinivie said the troops responded with superior firepower, engaging the terrorists and inflicting heavy casualties before forcing them to retreat from the scene.
He noted that the troops, after the encounter, maintained control of the route and restored the free movement of commuters.
Sinivie revealed that one soldier sustained a gunshot wound during the operation and was evacuated for medical treatment, adding that the soldier is in stable condition.
