The Anglican Bishop of Oyo South Diocese, the Rt Revd Dr Olufemi Familoni, has celebrated his 60th birthday with a thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral Church of St John, Akinmoorin, Oyo State.

The service was presided over by the Archbishop of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province, Church of Nigeria, the Most Revd Dr Williams Aladekugbe, who also delivered the sermon. In his exhortation, the Archbishop charged Bishop Familoni to remain steadfast in his calling and to continue leading with gratitude, obedience, and faithfulness to God.

Reflecting on the significance of the milestone, Archbishop Aladekugbe described every heartbeat from birth as evidence of God’s love and care, urging the celebrant to remain committed to God’s will.

As part of the celebration, the Archbishop, in company with other senior bishops, dedicated the newly renovated and fully furnished Bishop’s Court. The facility has been upgraded with modern amenities, including a refurbished chapel and improvements aimed at enhancing sustainability and supporting the administrative and pastoral functions of the diocese.

Bishop Familoni, who was consecrated and enthroned as the pioneer bishop of the Diocese of Oyo South in November by the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, said the upgraded Bishop’s Court would strengthen his episcopal work and expand the church’s outreach within the diocese.

“We are only vessels for God’s work, and everything we do is for His glory,” he said, adding that the diocese was at the beginning of its mission and would continue to grow with God’s help.

The thanksgiving service attracted nine bishops from different dioceses across the Church of Nigeria, who paid glowing tributes to Bishop Familoni, describing him as generous, visionary, and deeply committed to the growth of the church.

Speaking alongside his wife, Dr Mrs Modupe Familoni, and other family members, the bishop expressed gratitude to God for his life, strength, and recent elevation to the episcopacy, describing the celebration as a time for reflection and renewed dedication to service.

Bishop Familoni was born on January 22, 1966, into the family of Pa Gabriel Ibitoye Familoni of Ido-Ekiti. He is a cleric, visionary leader, seasoned administrator, and a Chartered Human Resources practitioner.
