The police have arrested two vigilante leaders in connection with a culpable homicide case reported in Ibeto, Niger State.
The suspects, identified as Hambali Yahaya, the head of a local vigilante group, and Yusuf Madawaki, both residents of Ibeto, were taken into custody following investigations into the killing that occurred on January 16, 2026.
Sources disclosed that the arrests were carried out by operatives of the Nasko Division under the Kontagora Area Command.
The suspects are currently being detained as investigations continue.
The incident had reportedly caused tension within the community, prompting residents to demand a thorough and transparent investigation.
Police authorities said further details would be made available as inquiries progress, adding that efforts are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
