The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday dismissed reports suggesting a possible replacement of Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 general elections, calling such stories “purely speculative, untrue, and utterly baseless.”
In a press statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC urged media organizations to avoid amplifying rumours and “mischievous news sources” that could sow discord and confusion in the polity.
The party emphasized that, under existing laws and electoral regulations, the ban on political activities remains in force. APC says its current focus is on supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, including ongoing reforms aimed at transforming the economy and improving living standards.
Morka also called on ministers, senior government officials, and party leaders to avoid fueling speculation and instead concentrate on diligent service to the government and the APC, reinforcing the achievements of President Tinubu.
