The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has directed all workers across its Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) to immediately resume duties following a court order suspending the ongoing strike.

The directive was contained in a circular issued on Tuesday by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, signed by the Acting Head of Service, Nancy Sabanti Nathan.

According to the circular, the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, presided over by Justice E. D. Subilim, on Tuesday, ordered the suspension of the industrial action embarked upon by staff of the FCTA under the aegis of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC).

“Accordingly, all staff are to resume duties immediately at their various duty posts,” the circular stated.

The FCTA also directed all Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments and Agencies to ensure strict monitoring of staff attendance by maintaining attendance registers, even as the administration reiterated its commitment to the welfare of workers.

The circular further instructed that its contents be brought to the attention of all concerned officers for immediate compliance.

The strike, which had disrupted services across Abuja, followed disputes between workers and the FCTA over welfare-related issues.

The court’s intervention is expected to restore normalcy across government offices in the nation’s capital.
