The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed that five separate fire outbreaks occurred in different parts of the Kano metropolis within a 24-hour period, between January 27 and 28, 2026.
The incidents were disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the service’s Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the first fire was recorded at about 4:17 a.m. on January 27 at Badawa in Nassarawa Local Government Area.
Firefighters from the Dakata Fire Station were deployed to the scene, where a pharmacy shop measuring approximately 10 by 15 feet was found slightly affected.
The fire was already under control when the team arrived.
The second incident occurred at about 1:20 p.m. along Maiduguri Road at the Danladi Nasidi Housing Estate, following a distress call from the Nigerian Communications Commission.
Firefighters from the Danladi Nasidi Fire Station responded and found an open area housing MTN and Airtel communication antennas affected by fire, which had also been brought under control before their arrival.
Later that day, at about 6:30 p.m., another fire outbreak was reported at Singar Market, opposite Bello Dandago.
Personnel from the Sabon Gari Fire Station discovered a container vehicle conveying cartons of noodles engulfed in flames.
The fire slightly damaged parts of the vehicle and its contents, but swift intervention prevented major losses.
The fourth incident was recorded along Independence Road, opposite Aminci Radio, also in Nassarawa Local Government Area.
Firefighters from the Sabon Gari Fire Station arrived to find an open area used as a steel turning processing plant on fire.
The blaze affected several machines, generators, steel poles, solar panels and other equipment, but was brought under control.
The fifth fire outbreak occurred at Ja’en, opposite Ajawa, where firefighters from the Sharada Fire Station responded to a distress call.
A ground-floor residential building consisting of two rooms and a kitchen was slightly affected by the fire.
No casualties were reported in any of the incidents.
The Kano State Fire Service has urged residents to take preventive measures to reduce the risk of fire outbreaks, advising the public to switch off electrical appliances when not in use, avoid illegal electrical connections, safely store flammable materials, install fire extinguishers where possible, and promptly report fire incidents to the nearest fire station.
