Nollywood filmmaker and actor Stanley Amandi was allegedly deceived into participating in a plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government, following assurances from key figures behind the scheme that his involvement would help address Nigeria’s challenges.
According to reports, the suspected plotters, led by Brigadier General Musa Abubakar Sadiq and Colonel M.A. Ma’aji, approached Amandi and appealed to his influence as a public figure.
They reportedly cited rising insecurity, economic hardship and governance failures, presenting the planned takeover as a corrective measure for the country’s problems.
Believing he was supporting a patriotic cause, Amandi allegedly agreed to assist by using his platform to shape public opinion and lend credibility to their narrative.
The officers were said to have promised him protection and a possible role in a new administration, further convincing him to cooperate.
His involvement later came to light during investigations, leading to his arrest alongside the military officers allegedly connected to the plot.
