Abdullahi Usman, the chairman and chief executive of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has resigned from his position.
According to the source, Usman’s decision followed “deep personal reflection” and was entirely voluntary, with no link to any boardroom dispute, leadership crisis, or external pressure.
During his tenure, Usman reportedly focused on strengthening corporate governance, enhancing institutional discipline, and stabilizing operations at the commission. He chose to step down quietly, believing it was in the best interest of NAHCON.
As of this report, neither the federal government nor NAHCON has issued an official statement regarding his resignation.
Usman was appointed NAHCON chairman by President Bola Tinubu in August 2024, succeeding Jalal Arabi, who was dismissed while under investigation by the EFCC and ICPC over the alleged mismanagement of the N90 billion presidential subsidy for the 2024 hajj.
