Paul Ibe, a media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has mocked former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose for wrongly linking him to a statement that criticised the former governor’s earlier claims.
Fayose had earlier made a series of allegations over Tuesday’s closed-door meeting Atiku and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had with ex-Military President Ibrahim Babangida in Minna, the capital of Niger State.
Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, later issued a statement condemning Fayose’s claims on the meeting.
Reacting on Thursday, Fayose wrongly linked Ibe to the statement and had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Atiku Abubakar to publicly disown the statement.
However, Ibe said the controversial statement, titled “Peter Ayodele Fayose’s Beer Parlour Tales of Infamy,” was not written by him but by Shaibu.
Ibe said Fayose failed to distinguish between different members of Atiku’s media team and had wrongly attributed the authorship of the statement to him.

Ibe further mocked Fayose’s demand that Atiku should issue a rebuttal within 48 hours, saying the timeline was unnecessary and exaggerated.
Ibe stated: “I am not disappointed with one Peter Ayodele Fayose for his inability to make a distinction between Ambassador Phrank Shaibu and my humble self (Paul Ibe).
“Sir, if indeed you read the statement titled “Peter Ayodele Fayose’s Beer Parlour Tales Of Infamy”, you would have seen that it was actually authored by Amb. Shuaibu and not Ibe. Is it possible that you may have been under the influence of some beverages when you read it? This only confirms that your tales are truly motivated by some aged beverages.
“Haba, is 48 hours not too long?
“Well, since you mentioned your oga in your ill-advised tweet, I do not need the services of a withdoctor to hazard a guess as to where you get your supplies from.
“Is it the 40-year-old Whiskey or you took a more aged version that needs more than 48 hours to ‘clear’ from your eyes?
“While I sympathise with your condition, I urge you to revert to me if you regain your sanity earlier than your projected recovery time of 48 hours.”
