Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) has reiterated its commitment to supporting socio-economic development in the Niger Delta, particularly through collaboration with government and key stakeholders on infrastructure projects.
The company made the commitment during a visit by its Director and Chief Operating Officer for Chevron Nigeria and Mid-Africa Region, Segun Kuteyi, to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, in Asaba on March 12, 2026.
During the visit, Kuteyi emphasized CNL’s interest in stakeholder discussions surrounding the proposed Escravos–Warri Road Project, noting that the company is working with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Delta State Government to better understand the proposal.
According to him, the construction of the road has the potential to significantly improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.
Kuteyi stressed the importance of strong collaboration with the Delta State Government throughout the project lifecycle, adding that synergy among stakeholders would be critical to the project’s success.
He further explained that CNL supports a collaborative approach involving government agencies, host communities and private sector partners to ensure that the project delivers maximum value.
“The NDDC, being the initiator of the project, is a critical stakeholder in the project,” he said.
Kuteyi also noted that Nigeria’s Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme (RITCS) provides a framework that could encourage eligible private sector participation in road infrastructure development.
He reaffirmed that Chevron will continue to collaborate with the Nigerian government and other stakeholders to support the growth of the country’s oil and gas industry as well as the broader economy.
